Aqua Metro Line to Extend Towards Greater Noida West by 2026

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has finalized plans to extend the Aqua Line from Sector 51 station towards Greater Noida West, commonly known as Noida Extension. The 17.4 km extension will connect Sector 51 with Knowledge Park V through 11 new stations.

Officials have confirmed that construction is scheduled to begin by early 2026 after land acquisition and statutory clearances. The proposed corridor will ease the daily commute for thousands of residents living in high-density residential areas such as Gaur City and Techzone. Currently, residents rely heavily on road traffic, which has led to congestion on the Noida-Greater Noida Link Road.

The Aqua Line, operational since January 2019, connects Noida and Greater Noida through 21 stations. The new extension will provide a direct link between the Aqua Line and Delhi Metro’s Blue Line, improving connectivity to central Delhi and Ghaziabad.

NMRC officials estimate that the extension will cost around Rs 2,000 crore. Funding will come from a mix of state government support and loans from multilateral agencies. Once completed, the extension is expected to serve nearly 80,000 additional passengers daily.

Urban planners say this extension could boost the real estate market in Noida Extension, which has already seen large-scale residential and commercial development. The project is also aligned with Uttar Pradesh’s focus on expanding metro networks across cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra.
